NEURA Robotics is a German robotics company attempting to build an unusually broad “Physical AI” business. Instead of focusing on one humanoid or one industrial arm, it develops collaborative arms, mobile manipulators, service robots and humanoids, while acquiring established mobile and cleaning-robot businesses. It intends to connect those machines through Neuraverse, a software ecosystem for distributing robot skills and learning from real-world use.

This breadth separates NEURA from most embodied-AI startups. It gives the company existing industrial products and multiple routes to customers before humanoids mature. It also forces NEURA to integrate different hardware lines, service organizations, software stacks and markets while financing an aggressive manufacturing and data strategy.

3. Founding team and leadership

David Reger founded NEURA Robotics in 2019 and remains chief executive. The company’s central idea is “cognitive robotics”: robots should combine integrated sensing, safe physical control and AI so they can work beside people without the rigid separation typical of traditional automation.

NEURA’s leadership has expanded as the organization has grown. Chief operating officer Jens Fabrowsky previously spent more than two decades at Bosch and now leads product development and production scale-up. The company says it employs more than 1,400 people across more than eight locations and 45 nationalities. Those figures are company disclosures rather than audited workforce reporting, but they show how rapidly NEURA has moved beyond its original Metzingen engineering team.

4. Products and programs

MAiRA is NEURA’s cognitive collaborative robot arm. It combines force-torque sensing, perception and human-detection systems for applications such as assembly, machine tending, inspection and welding. LARA is positioned as a high-performance lightweight industrial arm, while MAV combines a mobile base with robotic manipulation for transport and flexible automation.

MiPA is a mobile personal and service assistant aimed at care, hospitality and household contexts. Its commercial maturity is less clear than the industrial arms. The 4NE1 family is NEURA’s humanoid program, with full-size, wheeled and smaller variants. The product page describes a full-size system approximately 180 centimeters tall, weighing 80 kilograms, with modular forearms and configurations for industrial and home use. Published payload language spans a very wide range and should be treated as model-dependent company specification, not one uniform capability.

Neuraverse is intended to function as a shared software and skills layer across robots. NEURA Gyms are physical training sites where companies and research institutions can generate task data and test robot skills. In 2026, NEURA said ten Gyms were in development and five were planned to operate by year-end, including projects with RWTH Aachen and the Technical University of Munich.

5. Core technology

NEURA’s technical thesis begins with integrated sensing. Its robots combine force-torque feedback, vision, environment mapping and touchless human detection so they can react to people and objects without relying entirely on fenced work cells. The company also emphasizes hand-guiding, voice and gesture control to reduce programming effort.

The Neuraverse extends that idea from a single robot to an ecosystem. In principle, a skill learned or validated in one setting could be packaged for other machines, while data from deployments improves perception and control models. NEURA Gyms provide the controlled real-world environments needed to gather that data.

This is an ambitious architecture. Robot arms, mobile platforms and humanoids have different safety requirements, sensors, control rates and business workflows. A shared platform may reduce duplicated development, but only if abstractions remain useful across those differences. Public materials describe the intended architecture more clearly than they document cross-product skill transfer in sustained customer operations.

6. Financing history

NEURA’s company timeline describes a €66 million Series A in 2024, including European capital and $16 million from InterAlpen Partners. In January 2025, it announced a €120 million Series B led by Lingotto Investment Management, with BlueCrest Capital Management, Volvo Cars Tech Fund, InterAlpen, Vsquared Ventures, HV Capital, Delta Electronics, C4 Ventures, L-Bank and others.

In June 2026, NEURA announced a Series C with a total round size of up to $1.4 billion. Tether said it would lead the financing, and the announced investor group included Qualcomm, Amazon, NVIDIA, imec.xpand, Bosch, Schaeffler, the European Investment Bank, Lingotto Horizon and InterAlpen. The wording matters: “up to” states a maximum round size and should not automatically be read as cash already funded in full.

NEURA did not disclose a valuation, detailed tranche schedule or the amount of primary capital already received. The company says the financing will support manufacturing, global deployment, Neuraverse and NEURA Gyms.

7. Partnerships and deployment

NEURA has established industrial distribution and development relationships beyond its own brand. Omron confirms that its iCR cognitive robot derives from NEURA’s MAiRA line. Schaeffler announced a technology partnership covering data for Physical AI, industrial humanoid capabilities and components. These relationships validate elements of the industrial technology, but they do not establish broad deployment of 4NE1.

The company has also expanded through acquisition. It bought automated guided vehicle specialist ek robotics in October 2025, adding more than 300 employees and an installed intralogistics business. In August 2026, NEURA Mobile Robots acquired ADLATUS Robotics, which brought hundreds of professional cleaning systems in the field. NEURA also announced the acquisition of Bosch Rexroth’s ACTIVE Shuttle platform effective October 1, 2026; as of the research date, that transfer was agreed but not yet effective.

These transactions give NEURA real installed machines and service relationships. Their future integration with Neuraverse remains a plan rather than demonstrated ecosystem-wide operation.

8. Business model

NEURA sells or supplies industrial robots and automation systems, works through partners and white-label channels, and provides commissioning, applications and lifecycle support. Acquired mobile-robot businesses add customized projects, fleet management, navigation software and service revenue. MiPA and 4NE1 could eventually extend the company into service and consumer markets.

Neuraverse points toward a platform model in which robot skills, AI services and development tools create recurring software value. NEURA Gyms may become training infrastructure for customers and partners that need real-world data but cannot build facilities alone. The company’s strategy resembles a vertically integrated robotics vendor combined with an ecosystem operator.

Public product pricing, revenue, margins and software terms are not disclosed. NEURA reports an order book above €1 billion, later calling its orderbook and strategic pipeline more than $1 billion, but does not provide customer-by-customer composition, cancellation terms, delivery schedule or recognized revenue.

NEURA’s breadth has a rational foundation. Industrial arms generate customer relationships, mobile robots add proven intralogistics deployments, and acquired cleaning machines contribute a real installed base. Those systems could feed data and distribution into a shared Physical AI platform before humanoids become commercially mature.

The same breadth creates substantial risk. Each product line has different customers, regulations, service needs and competitors. Integrating acquisitions while developing humanoids, operating training facilities, building an app-like ecosystem and scaling manufacturing requires exceptional organizational discipline. Large financing can support that work, but the “up to” structure and limited financial disclosure make the precise capital position unclear.

NEURA should therefore be judged in layers. It is already an industrial robotics supplier with external technology partners and acquired deployed systems. It is not yet publicly proven as a multi-product intelligence network or a mass-scale humanoid manufacturer. Evidence that skills, data and customer economics improve across the portfolio would turn breadth into a moat. Without it, breadth may remain an expensive collection of parallel programs.
